I have recently been interested in Sports Bikes. Just haven't had the time or the money to get one (for that matter a license)
What would be a good starter bike if I were ever to get one?

Fri, April 28, 2006 - 8:21 PMI would say a good starter bike would be a Ninja 500. I think most people would agree that it is an ideal starter bike. It will afford you the luxury of getting comfortable with riding and get your confidence up but you won't "grow out of it" too quickly.
It is possible you could go out and manage a 600 (Ninja ZX-6, Yamaha R6, etc), but what you really, REALLY need to do is take a MSF course before anything else.
Take the course and see if you even like to ride. You will also get a good idea of where you're at as far as your skills. Maybe you would be ok on a 600. Maybe you need to start on a 250.
It also helps to do research on the bikes. Buy some sport bike magazines. Do a search for rider's forums in your area (a lot of those forums have newbie info that you may find helpful).
Take a look at this for some info (this is a forum in CA): www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/
And some info for newbies on that forum: www.bayarearidersforum.com/foru...y.php
Good luck!
